Build the infrastructure layer of the AI era.

Volta is the category-defining, fully vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform. We are 100+ people across Palo Alto, London, and New York - with rapid growth expectations. If you want to work on the hardest infrastructure problem of the decade, we’d like to meet you.

Six reasons this is unlike anywhere else you've worked

Most AI companies are racing to build on top of compute they'll never own. Volta is building the compute itself - the power, the facilities, the full stack. That means working at genuine scale, with real ownership, at a pace most companies can't match and alongside talented people - all in service of a mission that matters. That's what makes this a different kind of opportunity.

Real problems. Real stakes.

AI compute is becoming as essential as electricity – and almost no one is building the infrastructure to deliver it reliably. Volta is. The work here matters in a way that is rare.

The team is exceptional.

This team is deep on both sides of what makes Volta work: institutional-grade infrastructure investing, and advanced AI platform technology and operations.

The backing is serious.

$10B in committed customer partnerships. Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz and Altimeter. $5B AI Infrastructure Program sponsored by Azora. You are not betting on a concept. You are joining a company that has already proven the model.

The growth is fast.

100+ people today. Rapid growth expectations across three global offices in the coming quarters. You will have real scope, real ownership, and real impact early.

You’re not just headcount.

Leadership has said directly that the people who can actually execute this model, at the speed this market demands, are just as important to Volta’s future as the capital and the customers. That’s a stated priority from the top of the company – not a recruiting line.

Full stack, not one layer.

Most engineering work stops at the API. Here it runs to the substation. Power, cooling, networking and software are one system, and you will work across the whole of it.

“This is a once in a generation build. You will help create the utility of compute for the world.”

What it's like to work here

Volta moves fast, the stakes are real and the people around you are here for the same reason: to build something that matters.

The problems are genuinely hard. There’s no strict playbook, no legacy system to lean on. What you build will operate at a scale most people never touch and the decisions you make will shape it for years to come.

If you want to do the best work of your career, this is the kind of environment that demands it - and enables it.

High trust, high autonomy teams

Volta runs on small teams with real ownership. You'll know why every decision was made, because you were in the room when it happened. There are no hidden layers of management between you and the work.

No information hierarchy

Everyone at Volta understands the company's strategy, financial position, and priorities. We don't filter context by seniority. Informed people make better decisions — we've built the culture around that belief.

Disagreement is expected. Deference is not.

We make better decisions when we challenge properly. We don't reward people who stay quiet to keep the peace. We reward people who push back well and change their minds when the debate warrants it.

We deeply care about the quality of the work

Volta is not a company that ships fast and apologises later. The infrastructure we build needs to be reliable for years. That means caring about design, documentation, and holding each other to high standards.

Your career accelerates when the company does

Early-stage infrastructure companies that execute well create leadership opportunities faster than any other environment. As Volta scales, so do the roles. The people who join now will be running significant parts of the organization.

Intensity, not unsustainability

We work hard and we want to make it sustainable. But we don't confuse intensity with dysfunction. We expect people to take their holidays and come to work ready to think clearly. Burnout is not a badge of honour at Volta — it's a failure of management.

“We have the capital and the conviction to build something truly unique. The people who join now will shape everything that comes next for Volta.”

Sofia Gumuzio – Co-Founder & Chief Corporate Development Officer

We invest in the people building this company

We invest in people who are building this company. Our benefits are designed to support your wellbeing, reward your contribution and help you grow for the long term.

Competitive salary

Top-of-market base compensation benchmarked against the best infrastructure and AI companies globally. We pay for the calibre of people we hire.

Healthcare, pension, insurance

High quality healthcare for all employees, wherever you're based. Life insurance and pension provision are offered in line or exceeding regional standards.

Meaningful equity

All employees get an equity stake with four-year vesting and a one-year cliff. You're building this company - the upside should reflect that.

Token budget

$100,000 annual token budget for every engineer. We build compute infrastructure – we're not going to make you ration it.

Generous holiday

Competitive annual leave for all employees, because sustainable performance requires genuine rest.

Parental leave

Enhanced parental leave for qualifying employees.

Build the system that powers global intelligence

AI is only as capable as the infrastructure underneath it. Every frontier model, every inference call, every breakthrough runs on physical infrastructure that has to be designed, built, and kept running – at a scale and pace most engineers never get to work at.

We're building toward 100% automated cluster deployment – zero human intervention from activation through decommission – on NVIDIA's newest Vera Rubin systems. Because we self-build
and self-operate, that automation runs against power delivery, data center design, and cluster orchestration our own team owns end to end, not a third party's black box. Our near-term pipeline covers 1GW+ of power capacity and 100K+ GPUs across multiple campuses on two continents – that's the scale of system you'd actually be designing for.

This is hyperscale engineering with real impact – the kind of problem that doesn't come around often, and doesn't come with a roadmap someone else already wrote.

“The engineers who work here will grow their careers having built something that deeply matters - the infrastructure that the AI era runs on. That's a rare thing to be able to say.”

Tristan Helmich – Chief Technology Officer

A process designed to respect your time.

We've kept our hiring process straightforward and transparent - no unnecessary stages, no waiting in the dark. Our aim is to take you from first conversation to offer in around three weeks, with clear communication at every step.

1. Apply to an open role

Browse our open roles and apply with your CV. No cover letter needed - we want to see what you've done, not a pitch.

2. Recruiter screen

A screening call with someone from our talent team. We'll walk you through the role, the team and how we work. You'll have time to ask questions too – we'd rather you go in with a clear picture than find out something important after the fact.

3. Interviews

Two or three interviews with people you'd be working with directly. They vary by function but focus on how you think, how you've approached hard problems and how you make decisions under pressure. No trick questions – just real conversation.

4. Technical assessment

Not every role includes this step. Where it applies, the assessment reflects actual work – systems design, debugging or domain-specific problem solving, depending on your role. We'll tell you exactly what to expect beforehand.

5. Culture interview

A conversation with members of the broader team about how you work, what you value and the environment where you do your best work. It goes both ways – this is your chance to evaluate us too.

6. Offer

We debrief quickly and move fast. Offers are benchmarked against market data to ensure they're competitive – and we don't keep people waiting.

We're hiring across every discipline

All roles are full-time. Most are hybrid. On-site roles at data centre locations are clearly marked.

Built on a different idea of what compute should be

We started with a simple observation: the real bottleneck in AI compute isn't chips, it's financing. That insight is what built the company – here's the story behind it.

Talk to someone before you apply

We know that joining an early-stage company is a significant decision. If you want to speak to someone on the team before committing to an application – about the culture, the work, or what we're building – we're happy to have that conversation.
