AI compute, financed and built like the utility it is.

We're a team of infrastructure investors and AI engineers, bringing the financing model that built power plants and cell towers to AI compute.

Talk to our team

The Utility of Compute – AI infrastructure as dependable, plentiful, and available as electricity, for every organization that needs it.

Volta was founded on a single conviction: compute is infrastructure, and it should be financed, developed, and operated like it.

Ricard Boada spent over a decade leading digital infrastructure at a global asset management firm, where he helped deploy tens of billions of dollars into essential infrastructure assets – data centers and telecom towers – across Europe and North America.

That experience led him to a simple thesis: AI compute has the same characteristics as the infrastructure he spent his career financing – physically standardized, essential, and financeable the way power plants and toll roads are financed, not like a venture-backed startup.

Ricard co-founded Volta with Sofia Gumuzio, a former colleague and one of the sector's leading AI infrastructure investors. Together they assembled a world-class leadership team – senior operators across finance, engineering, product and people – and built Volta faster than any other institution could move.

The name is not an accident. Alessandro Volta invented the first device to produce a steady, continuous electric current – before that, electricity was only understood as a brief, static discharge. He gave the world continuous current. Volta gives the world continuous compute.

Volta’s leadership team.

One of the strongest teams globally in AI infrastructure – combining deep investment expertise with hands-on engineering leadership.

Ricard Boada

Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Ricard is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Volta.

He co-founded the business with a core belief: that compute is the new infrastructure vertical, and that there is an opportunity to build The Utility of Compute, providing compute to AI Labs, AI Natives and Enterprises at greater scale, faster speed and a lower cost of capital.

Before founding Volta, Ricard spent over a decade as a private equity investor and finance professional, most recently leading AI infrastructure in Europe for a large-cap asset manager. During his career, he invested over $50 billion across data centers, telecommunications infrastructure and energy, including investments in Data4, Deutsche Telekom, Telia and Bloom Energy. He also led the creation of the firm's AI infrastructure investment platform and served on the boards of several infrastructure businesses.
